“… An odd and magical story. I showed the picture to my sister while we sat on the roof of my houseboat and it blew away. Once I noticed I searched but it was gone…”

“… Many days later I returned home and noticed something stuck to the side of my hull as I walked aboard. It was the picture ! It lost the envelope & plastic wallet but had some how still returned. The ink had run which I think makes it more beautiful.
Its return was such a surprise I am even more fond of it, the jar is so that in the future it floats.”

Here is the second part, I played with perforated paper, found at the St-Michel flea market in Montreal ; huge place full of stuff, you can spend a day in there looking at everything. Those will also be available at the Smart Design Mart this week end.

The cover is a piece of perforated paper “Gypsy Charmer”, fixed with neutral PH adhesive.
Each notebook contains various kinds of papers, from thin to thick, collected here and there, to give them a second life : washi, wrapping paper, color paper, machine paper, vellum, lined paper, and watercolor papers : Arches, Canson, Fabriano… Amongst the blank pages, there is some pieces of silkscreen prints, sketch, watercolor tests, Sharpie drawings…

I was sick for two weeks 2 months ago, so I spent my time recycling all unused papers, prints and drafts of all kinds I’ve found at home… :) These tiny notebooks will be available at the Smart Design Mart this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, in Montreal.

Some drawings I’ve done between 1988 & 1994 I guess :)
My favorite subjects were reptiles, birds, fishes -mostly sharks-, felids, dinosaurs, hybrids creatures in various chaotic climates ; I didn’t like the human shapes.

… and a marmot !
Encyclopedias of wild animals and ‘fauna cards’ were my first sources of inspiration, I also remember that I spent hours watching insects in the garden, and analyzing the pictures of the ‘Science & Vie‘ magazines of my father ;)
